George Parmelee correspondence, 1911-1917.

George Parmelee was a genealogical researcher who lived in Hartford, Connecticut. His most common correspondent was fellow genealogist Orra E. Monnette of California. Parmelee did research for the Connecticut State Library, the Connecticut Historical Society, the Secretary of the State and the Adjutant General. Those organizations all referred queries to Parmelee, who charged $0.30 per hour. Many of the questions he received were about military service in the Revolutionary War. Among the family names found within the collection are Andrews, Adams, Bacon, Chapman, Davenport, Hartshorn, Paine, Penfield, and Roswell. All of the correspondence is arranged chronologically.
